Robots for the mining industry
Robots for the most dangerous, dirty and repetitive mining tasks: in the plant, the lab and the workshop.
What gets automated
- Inspecting tunnels, conveyors and electrical rooms with quadruped robots
- Sample preparation and handling in the lab
- Hardfacing and weld repair of wear parts
- Cathode handling in electrowinning and electrorefining
- Palletizing bags of reagents and concentrate
Sector problems
What a robot solves
In mining the robot does not replace the mine's fleet: it takes on the dangerous, dirty or repetitive tasks around the operation. It tours tunnels and electrical rooms to inspect them, moves samples in the lab, hardfaces worn parts with welding and handles cathodes or heavy bags. Each project is assessed by the environment (dust, humidity, altitude) and by how it integrates with site safety.
Hazardous areas
A quadruped tours tunnels, conveyors and electrical rooms with cameras and thermal sensors; the person reviews the report.
Overloaded lab
A robot loads, weighs and moves samples between instruments, and logs each one.
Wear parts that stop the plant
Robotic hardfacing repairs buckets, teeth and liners with even beads and fewer workshop hours.
Heavy bags and cathodes
The robot palletizes bags and handles cathodes without anyone lifting weight next to the line.
In every project
What the sector demands
- Dust, humidity and corrosive environments: robot protection rating
- Site altitude and temperature, especially in Andean operations
- Distance to the site: remote support and commissioning trips
- Integration with site control and safety systems
