Pick and place robots

A robot that picks, places, assembles and inspects small parts at high speed.

Ideal for: Small components, light assemblies and presence or quality checks.

  • Repeatable pick-and-place cycles
  • Clearly defined inspection criteria
  • Integration with the station or line

What it includes

What a cell comes with

SCARA or 6-axis robot

SCARA for fast planar moves; 6-axis if the part must be tilted.

Vision camera

Finds the part even if it is not in the same place and checks it is correct.

Gripper or vacuum cup

Lightweight tool designed for the shape and material of the part.

Part feeding

Trays, conveyors or feeders that present parts to the robot.

What it is for

What gets automated

We assess parts, formats, production rate, and quality criteria to define a pick-and-place application: picking and placing, orientation, sorting, inspection, or assembly. Machine vision is added when it contributes to the process, with defined lighting and acceptance criteria.

  • Part picking and placing
  • Sorting and presence checks
  • Assembly and component placement

Clear expectations

What it can and cannot do

Not sure it is worth automating? Consulting

It can

  • Run very short cycles for the whole shift.
  • Reject missing or defective parts before moving on.
  • Pick randomly placed parts when it has vision.

It cannot (without help)

  • Inspect a defect that cannot be clearly defined or seen.
  • Pick tangled or overlapping parts without a suitable feeding system.
  • Move heavy loads: this is a light-part application.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When does machine vision make sense?

When part position varies, sorting and verification are needed, or the process requires inspection; it is validated with real samples and defined lighting.

SCARA or 6-axis robot for pick and place?

SCARA is usually efficient for fast planar motion; a 6-axis robot adds full orientation when travel or placement requires it.

Can multiple formats be handled?

Yes, with tooling and per-product recipes; mixed formats are assessed during application analysis.
