Robotic palletizing cost and ROI

What makes up the cost, what changes between robot, cobot and layer palletizer, and how to calculate payback with your data.

The price of a palletizing robot is not explained by the robot alone. Gripper, patterns, conveyors, safety, integration and commissioning change the total. This guide organizes the components and shows how to estimate without inventing numbers.

What makes up the cost

Robot, gripper, cell, conveyors, pallet dispenser, safety, PLC, integration, commissioning, training, spare parts and logistics. The robot is often only part; the rest explains differences between proposals.

Robot, cobot, layer or dedicated machine

Format variety, rate and space define the option. The table guides; testing with the real product confirms.

Cycle and payback

Cycle is calculated with picks per minute, pattern, infeed, pallet changes and uptime. Payback adds labor, injuries, turnover, rework and rate. Formula and assumptions are published, not a universal payback.

Gripper and pattern

Vacuum, fork, clamp or mixed formats depending on box, bag or tray. Stability, height and center of gravity are validated with the real product.

Line integration

Conveyors, pallet dispenser, stretch wrapper, labeler, PLC/MES and safety. Integration scope is defined before quoting and explains much of the cost.

How to request an estimate

Formats, weights, pattern, height, rate, space, conveyors and safety criteria. With that data, scope can be compared, not just a number.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no single price?

Because robot, gripper, patterns, conveyors, safety, integration, commissioning and logistics change. Two cells with the same robot can have different scopes.

Which option is cheaper?

It depends on formats, rate and space. A cobot may have lower entry; a layer or dedicated palletizer may win on volume. Compare total cost, not just the robot.

How is cycle calculated?

With picks per minute, pattern, infeed, pallet changes and uptime. It is measured with the real product and layout.

How is ROI calculated?

With labor, injuries, turnover, rework, rate and uptime. Formula and assumptions are published; no payback is promised without data.

What data is needed for an estimate?

Formats, weights, pattern, height, rate, space, conveyors and safety. That compares scope, not just a number.

Can it start with a trial?

Yes. Testing with the real product and pattern validates gripper, stability, cycle and layout before quoting the cell.
